Written to reflect the intentions of the church's weddings leaflet. Please check details, fees and legal wording with the clergy before publishing.

Getting married in church is about more than a lovely building, though ours is lovely. It's about making your promises in front of God, your family and your friends, and asking for a blessing on the life you're building together.

We'd love to help you plan a day that feels like yours. The clergy will meet with you to talk through the service, choose readings and music, and answer all the practical questions.

Where to begin

Anyone can ask about getting married in the Church of England, and many couples are surprised to find out they can marry at St Paul's. If you live in the parish, or have a connection to it, it's usually straightforward, and we'll explain the options. Please talk to us as early as you can, ideally well before you've set a date.

Questions people ask

Do we have to live in Armitage Bridge?

Not necessarily. There are other ways of having a connection with a parish. Get in touch and we'll explain what applies to you.

Can we marry here if we've been married before?

Sometimes, yes. Each situation is different, so please have a conversation with the clergy.

Can we have the bells?

Our bellringers love ringing for a wedding. Ask us about it when you're planning.

What do weddings cost?

Fees for a church wedding are set nationally. We'll tell you what applies when we meet.

Do we have to come to church?

It helps, because it means the congregation will know you. But it's not a requirement, and you're always welcome.
