This summer several members of the congregation travelled to Norfolk (and a little bit of Suffolk) on our annual bellringing tour. We stayed outside the village of Loddon, in comfortable surroundings with a playground and a couple of hot tubs. We rang at an average of four to six towers a day, mostly with six bells, and a twelve-bell tower at Great Yarmouth after an afternoon of sandcastles and ice cream on the beach. At Beccles we rang a lovely quarter on a ring of ten.
Off the ropes, we took a boat trip on the Broads from Wroxham, spotting herons, a kingfisher and Great Crested Grebes, and rode the Bure Valley Railway between four towers. In the evenings there was handbell ringing, jigsaws, the reader's corner and, of course, the hot tub.
We rang a quarter peal of Plain Bob Minor at Stubbs House, Loddon, on 24 August. It was a first on the Armitage Bridge handbells.
