Halfway through 2026, the gardening team report on the churchyard. Our priority is to keep the front grass and drive neat, and the cremated remains areas look fresher and tidier thanks to Maureen, Catherine and Lorraine.
For the rest of our land we're working with River Holme Connections to encourage wildlife. This sometimes causes a conflict of interest, because long grass can look untidy, but it's paying off: six kestrel eggs were laid in the tower louvres, all hatched and all the chicks fledged. There are more butterflies, moths, mice and voles, and we can add a Common Spotted Orchid to our list.
The gardening team meets on Wednesday mornings around 8.30am. Everyone is welcome.
