Huddersfield Street Kitchen started in 2018 when a couple made too much food one Sunday and took some to a homeless man they'd got to know. It's open on Sundays from about 1pm and Thursday evenings from about 6pm, on Brook Street. It now helps anyone in need: people sleeping rough, families in hostels, people recovering from addiction or leaving prison.
Volunteers from the Sikh Seva Hub cook curry and rice and bring hot coffee. Others bake cakes and make soup. The team are always being asked for clothing, trainers, sleeping bags, blankets and even small tents. If you're having a clear-out, Sue can pass them on if you bring them to church.
